Every model shares the same core design: an aluminum chassis, a Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120 Hz, HDMI, an SD card slot, MagSafe 3 charging, a headphone jack and a 12 MP Center Stage camera. Apple silicon’s biggest advantage is not raw peak speed but how much performance it delivers on battery and without loud fans. The display

For storage, 512 GB is workable if you use cloud storage and an external SSD for projects; 1 TB is more comfortable for developers and anyone keeping photo or video libraries locally. A fast external Thunderbolt SSD is often a cheaper way to add space than Apple’s internal upgrades.
Should you still buy an M4 in 2026?
Apple has since moved the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro to the M5 chip, with improvements focused largely on GPU and on-device AI performance.
